The Souris Show Hall is pleased to announce our brand new songwriter-in-residence program! In collaboration with Music PEI, the Souris Show Hall invites applications from PEI songwriters for a one-week residency at the hall from September 23 - 29. This is an exciting opportunity for an island songwriter to work on new material, do some recording (limited technical support available, see below), or develop an existing project.
You will have access to the hall, stage, and piano for the duration of the residency, and can stay at the furnished artist apartment above the hall if you wish. If you want to use the hall's PA, mixer, and other sound equipment for recording, this will be possible with some advance technical support. There is no cost to you for the residency, but you will be required to do one outreach activity during your time at the hall (ie. a public workshop). You will receive a stipend of $1000, plus an additional fee (TBA) for a performance or outreach activity at this year's Goolaholla! Festival.
Applications will be adjudicated based on artistic merit and will be open until May 15.
Applicants will be notified by June 1.
We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts.
