We are happy to offer reasonable rates to our community in order to foster the arts in rural PEI. The Souris Show Hall is a volunteer run organization which allows us to offer affordable pricing for the theatre. However, our rates do not include a sound engineer or lighting technician unless specified. Use of the Tech Booth is not allowed without permission from a Souris Show Hall technician. The Souris Show Hall can seat 146 people in plush, graded seating.
Artist Rehearsals or Private Meetings (Non-Profit)
For theatre, dance, music and other performance artists in rehearsal, or not-for-profit organizations who need space to hold meetings there is a base rental rate of $100 per day of access to the building. The rental cannot begin before 9:00 am and cannot go later than 9:00 pm. This does not include public access or use of the PA system. Personnel should be limited to those involved in the rehearsal. Because the Souris Show Hall is a volunteer-run organization this rate includes a volunteer providing entry to the building and a brief introduction to the space.
For rehearsals or meetings requiring access to the PA system:
1. Pre-recorded music or two channels of inputs can be set up for an extra $50, which requires a trained technician to open the hall and set up the PA and return to close the hall and shut down. In the case of a non-profit AGM or similar event, a technician will run the PA system for the duration of the meeting at a cost of $50/hour.
2. For more than two channels of inputs, a fee of $100 is added to the base rate for a trained technician to set up and tear down the sound system.
3. If your group includes a trained technician approved by the Souris Show Hall, the fee will remain at $50 above base rate for access to the PA system.
For rentals longer than three days:
If an artist requires access to the Souris Show Hall for a longer stretch of rehearsals, the rates above will be reduced by 20% after three days of rental. For example, a theatre company requiring no PA access would pay $300 for the first three days, and $80 for every day thereafter.
Private Meetings (Corporate)
For private events held by for profit businesses, the base rental rate is $200 with the option of hiring a sound technician at $50/hour, depending on availability.
Public Events
The Souris Show Hall charges a very reasonable rental rate of $200 per event for public events lasting 5 hours or less. Included in this rate:
Box Office and Door: The Souris Show Hall can sell tickets for you via our website. The rental fee for public events also includes a door person for your event who will use a Square to take card payments. All fees related to credit card payments will be the responsibility of the renter.
Promotions: The Souris Show Hall will list your event on our website, social media, marquee sign (week of performance), and on our monthly venue listings poster. Individual show posters and advertising are the responsibility of the renter.
Concessions: The Souris Show Hall operates a small concession stand at events including small snacks and drinks.
If you acquire a temporary alcohol permit and purchase alcohol, our concession volunteer can also sell these items for you, in this case we ask for a 30% cut of bar profits to support the Souris Show Hall Foundation.
Backstage: Full access to the apartment behind the stage, including a full kitchen, and bathrooms, including shower. Areas not left clean- beds stripped, dishes washed and garbage removed will incur a $150 cleaning fee.
50/50: As a not-for-profit organization the Souris Show Hall fundraises for its continued accessibility, programming, and upkeep via a 50/50 draw run by volunteers at every public event, drawn by a board member following intermission. If your event does not have an intermission, or you do not wish for the 50/50 to take place please inform us.
Additional Fees and Services:
Music License: Any event that involves the performance of live music or the use of recorded music requires a SOCAN and/or Re:Sound License. Licensing shall be acquired through the Souris Show Hall and the appropriate fee will be added to the renter’s fee following the event. The fee structure is as follows:
- $15 per event for the use of recorded music. This included “house music” that plays upon entry to the theatre, during intermission, and at the end of the performance.
-3% of gross ticket sales with a minimum fee of $35 + HST.
Sound Engineer: The Souris Show Hall does not provide a sound engineer for live mixing of your event. We can offer assistance in finding a local engineer who will need to be paid separately.
Poster Design/Publicity: We encourage you to publicize your event and will offer a checklist of ideas for you to consider as you promote the event.
If you would like us to help with an individual poster for your event, our designer will work with you to create a poster at a charge of $50 with two revisions. Poster printing and distribution will be the responsibility of the renter.
Piano Tuning: $150
Projector Use: $50/day

If you are renting the Show Hall as a rehearsal space for multiple days, you may rent the apartment for overnight access at a rate of $50/night. We request that beds be stripped after use, dishes washed and garbage removed and that the apartment be left clean and tidy, otherwise a $150 cleaning fee will be added to the rental.
