Little Lorraine

Tuesday

June 23, 2026

10:00 p.m.

In a remote corner of the North Atlantic, a group of friends fall down on their luck after their coal mining jobs dissolve due to a major fire. In a

moment of questionable good luck, they get hired by our hero’s uncle to come work on his lobster boat. With money in their pockets and food on the table, the monotony of pulling up lobster pots turns upside down when the catch turns from lobster to bricks of hash, and later, kilos of cocaine. Soon, relationships get tested by outsiders and each other after an anonymous tip to Federal Agents brings an undercover officer to

the otherwise sleepy town. The friends have to decide whether to stay the course or run for their lives before the paranoid and suspicious Uncle Huey turns from ship’s captain to undertaker.

Singing in the Rain

Wednesday

June 24, 2026

5:00 p.m.

Celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly’s Singin’ in the Rain is both a timeless exemplar of the musical genre and a nostalgic behind-the-scenes parody of classical Hollywood. The film follows a hapless trio of silent film performers struggling to adapt to the coming of sound, propelled by Gene Kelly’s boundless energy, Debbie Allen’s infectious charm, and Donald O'Connor’s underappreciated slapstick chops. Naturally, they prevail by being themselves and reconnecting with the joy of dance, song, and comedy, including famous numbers like “Be a Clown,” not to mention the iconic title song sequence.

10:30 p.m.

An unmissable opportunity to experience the breadth and depth of Francophone musical traditions in North America with PEI/Magdalen Islands band Vishtèn and Grammy-winning Cajun fiddler Louis Michot visiting from Louisiana.

Vishtèn is an award-winning Acadian group from PEI and the Magdalen Islands, known for their fiery blend of tradition and innovation. After the loss of co-founder Pastelle LeBlanc, bandmates Emmanuelle LeBlanc and Pascal Miousse embraced resilience and expansion, welcoming back longtime collaborator Megan Bergeron to continue their musical journey.

Louis Michot is best known as the fiddle player and lead-singer for the Grammy award winning Lost Bayou Ramblers, but his passion for Louisiana French and local folklore, and sustainability in the fastest disappearing landmass in the world are what fuels his career as a musician. Souris Show Hall Songwriting Residency Open to Applications

The Souris Show Hall is pleased to announce our second annual songwriter-in-residence program! With the generous support of the Canada Council for the Arts, the Souris Show Hall invites applications from songwriters for a one-week residency at the hall in the autumn / winter of 2025/2026. This is an exciting opportunity for an artist to work on new material, do some recording, or develop an existing project. This program is not limited to island songwriters - all artists are welcome to apply.

You will have access to the hall, stage, and piano for the duration of the residency, and can stay at the furnished artist apartment above the hall if you wish. There is no fee for the residency, but you will be required to do one outreach activity during your time at the hall (ie. a public workshop, a performance, etc). You will receive a stipend of $1000, plus an additional fee (TBA) for your performance or workshop activity.

Applications will be adjudicated based on artistic merit, feasibility, and community impact and will be open until September 15th. Applicants will be notified by October 10th.

VENUE

The Souris Show Hall was built by the Benevolent Irish Society in 1891 and has delighted audiences ever since. In 1916 the Souris Show Hall began screening silent films, and the venue served as a community cinema for many years during the 20th century.

We strive to honour the rich history of this building in our programming and renovations, while also building toward a vibrant future!

The Souris Show Hall is a 148 seat theatre with a semi-circular stage. The venue is wheelchair accessible via a ramp, with one accessible washroom. We are not currently licensed, but you are able to purchase non-alcoholic beverages and snacks at our concession area in the lobby.

Most of our performances begin at 7:30, unless otherwise noted and seating is done by general admission. Doors open a half hour before the performance. Come early, grab a snack and a 50/50 ticket and support our local Show Hall!
